Resource Group – MMV

Since 2005, the Metrics and Validation and Modeling Methods and Validation Focus Groups have supported modeling efforts at GEM. In 2019, the FG approach was changed to have a standing committee – the Methods & Validation Resource Group.

The role of the M&V Resource Group is to advise, coordinate, and keep continuous records of all challenges and metrics. The M&V Resource Group holds breakout sessions, as needed, to discuss modeling topics of relevance across the scientific disciplines within the GEM community.

Prior to GEM/Mini-GEM, during the scheduling process, focus group leaders should request involvement of the M&V Resource Group for any sessions where the involvement of these group members would be helpful. Even if FG leaders do not feel that they are in need of help from the resource group, they may still want to ask for M&V Resource Group involvement. This is a way of sharing their knowledge and experience in methods and validation with the rest of the GEM community, via the M&V Resource Group. Reports of validation efforts with respect to challenge activities should be made available to the M&V Coordinator and Resource Group for coordination and support across research areas.

The current leaders of the M&V RG are Lutz Rastätter, Alexa Halford, Joh Rigler, and Mike Liemohn. More information about this Resource Group can be found on our wiki page.
